Crypto economics is a new discipline born after the rise of virtual currencies and distributed ledger technologies and is rapidly developing in a unique intersection between computing, cryptography, law, economics and game theory.
The key aspect is the decentralization and the design of systems not controlled by a central entity but regulated by a protocol accepted by all parties not for mutual agreement but rather for mere economic convenience. This protocol proved so far to be antifragile to any attempt of gaming the rules.
The potential application fields are many:
finance, venture capital, computer security, energy/smart grid, Internet of Things, notarization, data/process auditing, food/product tracking and new models of cryptographic and decentralized organizations.
Like in the 90's, when the web was a pioneering technology that later impacted all social and economic aspects of our lives, the blockchain and DLT have the potential to be likewise a revolutionary technology in many regards.
The school is aimed at researchers, Phd students, scholars and technologists in industry and academia, not excluding under- or new graduates with strong technical drive and with the sufficient background to successfully attend the lectures. Starting from the results of other initiatives, such as the Contamination Lab of the University of Cagliari, selected participants will access the courses to acquire the technical skills to develop enterpreunerial ideas in the blockchain space.
